Simple Life
We came, we saw, we lived.
You were born, the little you. A moment of happiness (sadness for a select few) for people who know you. A moment which you will not remember. Your first step. Everyone screams with you. Your first word, Your first tooth.... and slowly but steadily you grow up.
Very soon its your first day at school and as the clock ticks you are outta school. Science, Commerce or Arts, thats the question. Very soon you are out of junior college. The first kiss, the first kick on the butt by prospective father-in-law, the first heart-break. Bachelors in Science? Medicine? Commerce? Arts? Couple of years more you are interviewing on campus. You have a job at a "prestigious" company, or at a start-up or you think about MBA. Two years give or take and you are working. Either at McKinsey or at Microsoft or at Manikchand or at your Papa's setup.
Then comes the next step. The unlucky few get married to their sweethearts. The even unluckier get married to the ones picked to be their sweetheart (arranged marriage). Few years (ok, at least nine months) from being hum-tum and the first kid is born. The first step, the first word, the first tooth.... the first pocket-money. This time you see it all from your own eyes. Life becomes a routine 8-5 job, home with the wife and kids. Buy a house, make down-payments. Buy cars, pay bills, a trip to Goa, a bottle of champagne for that promotion, relatives congratulating you on that fat pay-check and 5-bedroom house in Juhu or San Francisco.... life becomes materialistic.
When you prepare to close your eyes, to breathe for that one final time, will you wonder:
What set me aside, made life worth it, made me different from the people who live these routine lives?

Thought-provoking post Apoorva...the last line was a nice touch.
naice... what happened to you... whatever happened... its fantastic
hey apoorva. good topic...
I guess what sets one apart is how you live every moment, how you percieve every thing that life offers to you, how you handle every joy or sorrow that comes your way. The 'routine life' is a "package deal" for most of us (not for all of course) but the way to live and look at life is all upto you. That is what sets one apart from the other i guess.
Loved this topic..good stuff =]
Oh and your blog on 'matchmakers' was hillarious! haha =]
apoo apoo gimme a hug mate..excellent post..loved it..incredibly thought provoking..made me go 'shit.' (u know what i mean..)
having said that...it did sound a bit depressing..realistic but depressing...agreed u gotta keep the big picture in mind, but on your way there, take in the details too...they often hold a bigger lesson, and perhaps (i wouldnt know) as we take in that final breath, we get it. we finally get it.
ajo whts wrong with U ???????
dont thing so much about life .....she is a bitch who will do u every time ....so chill...and as Axl baba whould say ...live and let die...

boiingggg ... noice thoughts pops ...
although ... i wonder ...
hmm... i thought i wrote something here ..
Apoo : where is the comment i had written ??
Wiese nice thoughts ... touchdddddd...
Umm... people, nothing is wrong. I am allowed to write a sensible post at times, right? Cant have IdeaSmith doing that all the time!
Idea & Rumpel: Thank You.
Medha: Welcome. And well, I agree with what you are saying. Your inner world and the way you look and live life is defined by how you perceive every thought/action. Just that, my point was you gotta make a difference to mankind.
Mahi: Big hug babes! Yup. You gotta have the mean goals to reach the end goals. And nothing depressing about this. Just my way of saying - u gotta live for a bigger cause! Doesnt matter u get there or u dont!
Tima: Axl kii Jai!!
Abhi: Thanks for bouncing by. What do u wonder?
Winny: I got hungry! :)
Nicole: Nice to hear a compliment from you for a change!! :P
Wow, that was an eye-opener! Really scarry, but I guess... true, makes me think that I shouldn't be wasting time on dreams, dreams of having a fun life after marriage..so on n so forth!
Surbhi: No No No No! U have me all wrong. Marriage is important. Having an amazing family is important. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Sachin, Wright Brothers... all have a family. A family could be ya strength. Just... all these materialistic things shouldnt be your end goals. Oh well, they are not my end goals. We fail to see life beyond that. What would satisfy you more? Inventing the light bulb or buying a mansion?
We just follow a set custom coz we see everyone doing that. I respect those who broke away from it, irrespective of their success or failure.
apoo has more aadhyatma gyaan to offer in comments section...
apoo: have you come across any matchmakers of late in which you would have been interested and decided to post aadhyaatma gyaan all over your blog...
sorry to pass pakaoo comments on such a serious issue, but then somebody needs to fill up for bird... :)

Mahi: Yeah, I know! Whats happening?
Deepakji, usually I draw that reaction from women! :)
For the wrong reasons tho
OOOOOHHH sob sob sob ...Apoo how could you .....

Ok! I am hungry. Please send!
Damn u girl... all that Samosa talk has really got me hungry!!
ahaa im the best... Apooo this is what u get for the untimely demise of my comments.. now let me go get my samosa....
Grrr... may this samosa give u early morning fire it the belly!
Go to sleep u evil woman, and let this hungry man sleep!
actually apoo, the reaction u draw from girls is usually 'GET AWAY FROM ME.'
well not that i have any first hand experience of course, but i reckon my guess is pretty good ;)
cmonnn apoo..be honest here :P
correct mahi ... wasn't very difficult though was it
Well Mahi... I'll let my actions speak.... wait till we meet up!
Donno when... but wait!
Abhi: Remember, we will meet up very soon.
Apoo : grr.. to u too ...Oh GAWDDDD..
All that curse Left me with a terrible headache ; a $115 parking ticket and and accident ...
All in one day SOB SOB>>>>>
To all humans ... stay away from Apoo(that leaves u... Bird)
Its all ur fault .. All i did was eat a Samosa ..SOB SOB...
Awwww... Winny.
Come dear, Lemme teach you how to drive and parallel park.
But seriously, I am sorry about the accident. I hope it wasnt too bad.
apoo! :O stop saying such terrible things! please!
HMm i drive perfectly and paralell park perfectly too. how on earth would u otherwise survive in NYC...
na yaar it was jus a scrape and the ticket was coz i parked next to the fire hydrant .. dint count exact 1oo feet//
weise jo hona hein hota hein and jo kuch bhi hota hein ache ke liye ..right?/
Winny, FYI: I think u can log in online and argue your case about the ticket. If its a first time offence, the judge might reduce the penalty.
And I cant parallel park for nuts!
Apoo: you can't parallel park? I'm not letting you drive the grand am then ... in fact im not letting me drive it either ... we're both getting drunk
winny: yea, i told you u cud appeal for this ticket. my cousin got a speeding ticket in boston... he was at 70 on a street with a limit of 45. He appealed and got his $250 ticket cut down to $70 with the grace on history too.
people frm my family seem to be notorious in getting away with things.
and also, you can always use the gallis ur guru taught you against the judge if all else fails and he doesnt listen, just so you vent out the right stuff in the right direction. GOOD ADVICE NO?
Apoo:Kya yaar u cant parallel park?????
Abs tho bol raha tha ki u were a mast driver..Yeh lo saara impression gaya pani mein...
Abhi:Hmmm not sure abt the ticket reduction will check it...
But abt the gaali part i think my GURU knows what all gaalis i will give if at all..and for the venting part... keep ur EARS open....
Abhi: If u r drunk, u drive well.
Winny: Can u teach me? Please! :)
made me think, this one but overall i beleive life is never ever routine..isnt it the way we look at it that makes it so??When we view it as fun and happy,it is or else it can be drudgery!
Am glad i dropped by while blog hopping:)
